I apologize, the coolant at the bottom of the overfill tank was residue on the outside of the tank.....I wasn't very clear. In other words, they think it boils over and out of the tank.
I still have my doubts.
I suspect a bad tank, how can coolant get out of that tank past the cap? It would have to blow the cap off, or if nothing else, loosen it.
There may be a crack(s) in the overflow tanks neck, where the cap attaches.
This was a problem back in the late 1960's, early 1970's, when these coolant recovery (overflow) tanks were first used.
Ppl overtightened the screw on cap, which was metal...that cracked the plastic tank.
