Where to start?

1993 F-150 XL 4.9l 4x4 long wheel base 3.08 diff. A4OD tranny?
I want to take the old truck and make it a something I can do some decent off roading with. Nothing huge. Now I need to know where to start? I dont have a money to do everything at once so I have to do this in steps. What do I do first?

what kind of off roading? dirt roads, rocks, basher, mud? knowing what kind of off roading you plan to do will help decide what mods/upgrades are best.

I would be taking this truck to sand dunes, getting it into some mud and we always have plenty of snow around here half the year. I dont think I would do much rock crawling.

GEARS first.. 3.73 for stock tires and more if you have plans for something larger.
