I just saw a commercial for Allstate insurance, which claims they offer you a bonus check for every six months that you go without having a car accident. They showed a stop sign, and the guy says "stopping - it's not that hard." Then they flash the bonus check. As if not killing someone, permanently disabling someone, or running over a pederstrian isn't enough incentive to stop at a stop sign already. Now we have to offer people money not to break the law and to use common sense. What are we coming to?
I have a hunch you "pre-pay" these "bonuses" through a slightly increased regular premium, then they rebate the overcharge if you are accident free. This more like a free loan for the insurance company.

I understand what you are saying, and I have seen the commercial. However, my take on it is to get people to pay more attention while they are driving and maybe by doing so you will become a safer driver. The commercial might be a little more believable if they showed someone talking on a cell phone while driving
It want change anybody's driving, Nobody will hang up and drive. It will be more like I didn't have an accident in the last six months, now pay me. The site where I work gives an incentive every month if no recordable's. People come into my office asking Did we get it this month? Its about $400.00 a month but with so many employee's its almost impossible.
All BS..I use Allstate and they aren't sending any money to us..I would agree with aerocolorado, u sign up for a 'special plan", pay an extra 40 percent premium, and Allstate gives u 3 percent back every six months.
Sounds like fraud to me.

It's their way of saying you watch too much television.

its about 15% of your premium and the cash back is 5% at your renewal, also deductible rewards 100 bucks off your deductibles every 6 mts your ticket and accident free, and accident forgivness, your allowed 3 accidents in 3 years, you dont lose your good driving discounts nor surcharged for the accident.
nobody likes paying insurance period, nothing wrong with a company giving incentives to try and stay out of incidents
