91 E/B with 5.8
After living without any heat in my 91 since I got in over a year ago, I finally got the time to check it out. I should have done this when I first got it, but that would have too easy. :-). Anyway, I remove the glove box and was looking at the box that holds the heater core. I think I kept putting it off because I was told that the complete heater has to come out...not so. I pulled the cover & tried the blower, works as it should. Pulled the hoses then the heater core. Flushed it out with my hose, had all kinds of crap come out of it. N wonder it didn't heat. I flushed it both ways several times, reinstalled everything and now It works like a charm!! Good thing spring is here, although it did snow yesterday. My only other issue now is that, besides getting 8 MPG, is when I get to 1/8 tank, the thing cuts out like it's running out of fuel when I'm driving. If I pull over, it runs and will go from there. I am thinking either the fuel level sensor, reading incorrectly and I actually have less fuel then it's telling me, which wouln't explain why it continues to run after it cuts out, the gauge, the vent for the fuel tank is clogged, which I checked before, OR I just need to take out another loan to fill the tank when it reads 1/4. I am thinking of installing a fuel pressure gauge and when it happens I can watch the gauge. Any ideas where the best place to install it on the fuel rail and what pressures should I be looking at?
FTE ROCKS snd has helped me with prior Bronco repairs. Thanks to you all!!
