roller cams?

E3AE 6015 BA1 Cylinder block originally designed for full size car 1983 model year.

3L30 Cast on November 30th, 1983, appropriate for 1984 model year.

this is my 351w, I need to know how to tell if it has roller cams so I can order the right distributor gear

I don't think the roller cam engines came out until later. (85 or 86) -- Chuck

cool, I was a little confused because the engine is from an 86 f250

Someone here should have the casting # but I think the 351W blocks didn't get a roller cam till around 1994.

Correct.. the 351 didn't get a roller until 1994. However.. its still possible to put a roller cam in this motor, if it's not all original somebody could have swapped one in. It would be pretty obvious with the intake off, the lifter valley would have a spider assembly in it or the lifter pairs would have link bars on them.

If you are searching for a roller cam 351W engine, it must have a casting number beginning with F4TE (1994 or late 93 and up). Even some of those have a flat tappet cam, but will readily accept the roller cam, lifters and hardware from a 302 or 351.
