I was at my local dealership talking to a senior advisor. I told him my 08 with the 6.4 was a great truck, but the milege wasn't that good. He told me ford is working very hard on a new flash to help out. He wasn't sure how soon it would be available. Just some info you guys.
I just got mine back from the dealer for an oil change and some little stuff. I mentioned the bad mileage and he said all was normal. He sent me a TSB regarding the poor mileage and regeneration. It pretty much stated what most of us already know. He did not say anything about a new flash or anything like that. I am hopeful but I think it just is what it is. Alot of power, real heavy (heavy duty) truck, and the emissions (DPF) are all killers. I think we just need to live with it.

I love my new F350 and don't regret my decision to buy a bit but the weight, emissions and extra power are not a complete excuse for the terrible mpg that some guys are seeing. I personally get 13.8 hand calc. over the first 6K miles on mine with about 70/30 highway/city. I usually have 1-2,000lbs in the bed. The Duramax that I rented for 9 days previous to buying this truck got 17.5-18mpg avg with the same weight in the bed and was quicker. IMO the Ford is a much nicer truck overall but the Chevy also had the emission crap, and excellent power but got very good mileage. I hope Ford finds a solution for people getting 8-12mpg.
my service writer said the same thing that Ford was working on a new flash to help with the MPG's not sure if the believe him or not. I have been doing business with him for over 10 years.. yet I'm taking it with a gain of salt... hope it's true.
There is none...FMC hides behind the old " these trucks are not rated for mpg, there's no way we can rate them, some people carry hvy loads in them" BS they new what the avg. was when they teseted them....
While at our dealership I asked around about a re flash for better MPG on th 6.4's and at this time there is none..however..the dieselguy at the dealership said that Ford has been working on such a re flash and in fact has one that works..however it does not meet the emmission standards so can not be implemented..yet.. They will get it r ight sooner or later....anyone have any input on that story????

I was told basically the same thing. I decided not to wait on them to come up with something that would never compare to aftermarket due to EPA restrictions so I ordered the good stuff from Spartan.
