Ok, I finally got around to getting some photos of my hand-painted white faced instrument cluster in my '85 F-150.
I apologize in advance for the filthy lens over them, it makes the pics come out a little crappy... Didn't even notice it was dirty until I saw it in the pictures.
I had originally took the stock blue diffusers off, but found that my gauges were WAY too bright that way. I put the diffusers back on, and now it's got a very pleasant blueish green glow to them. I'm really pleased with the way they turned out.
(Oh, and yes. That's my actual mileage. The odometer has not rolled over yet.)
I REALLY like that! I want to do that to mine, only cause it's a white truck (Bronco). How is the luminosity of the needles? That is my concern. I pretty much want them to glow like stock.
To make the needles glow, you'd have to use a flourescent colored (or possibly a reflective) paint. I just made mine red, since glowing isn't a concern for me with the white background. It's actually very easy to see the needles againsed the white backdrop.
If the bluish green diffusers are too "greenish" for your taste, just replace all the white bulbs with blue 194's, and leave the diffusers off. That'll make your instrument cluster glow blue.
