Hey everyone,
I got in my 96 PSD today and It wouldn't start. It acted like the glow plugs weren't working but I replaced them 2 weeks ago. I replaced them because It wouldn't start then. Once I replaced them It started up just like new. Now It wouldn't start and I tried about 4 times to glow plug it and just got a lot of white smoke out the exhaust but no fire. I came back about two hours later and tried again and it cranked over once and now just clicks as if the battery is dead but the batteries both show about 13.4 volts Just to be sure I disconnected them and tested them individually. I am at a major loss and any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Put a battery charger on it. Could be the GP relay or the starter really is on it way out. Also voltage of the batteries really doesn't mean much. If you do get it running have the batteries load tested. The PSD takes alot of juice to power the GP's then crank over fast enough to start.
