We only put on 180hrs on our tractor a year, and I thought that was very low!!
Most of the new equipment out now has a 250hr oil change interval, but we have a couple customers that farm around 15,000 acres. So it doesnt take them long to rack up the hours.
These days with no till or minium till guys don't rack up the hours the way they used to when using discers or drills and summerfallowing. Our neigbor seed around 16000 acres and he was using three outfits with 60' drills and it didn't take him very long to seed everything. He could do out our stuff in a day without to much trouble.
Thats huge. In my mom and das yard, they have an old drill sitting there, unused of course thats about 15 feet wide. Just imagine trying to use that now a days.
Unless it`s horse drawn I think don`t there will be that much interest for as an antique.
I`ve got a 24 foot IHC 100 double disk drill sitting in the back of the farm.
You would be surprised at how many people are starting to look around for old equipment. This is an old drill my dad has too. Old plows and stuff like that are slowly becoming collectors items.
Hey, psst!

Slowly maybe, VERY slowly but with the price of scrap steel these days more money to be made at Hub city steel by a long shot. Actually thats another of my dad's hobbies buys a old drill for 5 bucks rips it apart steals the hyd. cylinders chops the rest of it, disc blades and bearings, worth their weight in gold.
Many of those areas are running state of the art equipment but there are still many smaller farmers using our older generation equipment. In the rural areas there just is not much off farm employment.
