I don't have electronics on standby burning power all the time. I don't watch TV, I don't care about Dish/Satellite connections, I shut everything down every day when I leave.

Power....
I already use as little as possible.
The only heat I use is from space heaters in the rooms I am in.
it still doesn't answer the question of what happens when there's no more. i know it seems like a fickle idea that we'll ever run out of water or power, but your words are sort of like the carbon credits idea... the rich folks can polute as much as they want to because they can afford the credits, while us middle and low class must walk...
the issues must be addressed by one and all, at the same level. climate change shouldn't become discriminatory!!!
That carbon credits thing is B.S. - I agree!! Big bucks can buy their way into heaven is the analogy I use. Carbon credits are actively trading - our farm sold some as part of a pilot project to reward for some farm stewardship practices that the experts say lead to carbon buildup. Our position is that if someone is stupid enough to give us money we are definitely smart enough to take it.
What I dont like is all that idealistic mumbo jumbo crap - if any of us (myself included) really gave a rats *** we would be doing way way more - would we drive a truck any other time other than when we need one to tow/haul something - do you see my point? Should any form of recreation that consumes a non renewable resource be made illegal or so expensive that none of us average guys can do it? Dont get me wrong - I am not pointing any fingers because I am as big a violator as anyone.
i completely agree with you in that respect. if anything is to be done, it has to be an effort on everyone's part... until there's some real incentives to do something, life as we know it will be the same...
We do need to leave something for future generations.
At the rate resources are being gobbled up, the pollution and the landfills piling up with Wally World/Princess Auto disposable junk that`s mostly non degradable plastics I don`t think I`d want to be around later on.
We personally conserve recycle & compost as much as we possibly can but I feel that`s only a small drop in a big bucket.
me, the FIL, and his brother was talking about that last night how its become a disposible world. we were talking about how there used to be shoemakers, hydraulic repairmen, small engine guys and stuff like that... now people throw out 1/2 worn shoes, hydraulic cylinders are bought cheap at P-A...you can buy a new chainsaw for 180.00...why spend 125.00 to fix the old one??
