I have a 2006 expedition and a 26 foot trailer and I'm currently looking into upgrading my tow vehicle. Ofcourse I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible but yet still get a reliable tow vehicle.
I found a 2002 F250 with a 7.3 PSD VIN# 1FTNW21F02EB43233 with 83K miles on it. Asking price is $22,988. The only problem is I don't know anything about diesels.
Does this seem like a good buy for what I need, and will this be a reliable enough Tow vehicle?
That's a little steep on the price. We need more details though -- 2 or 4 WD? CC, EC, or SC? XLT or Lariat? To put it in perspective, I paid 21k for my 2002 XLT 2WD with 60k on it a little over a year ago...
I bought my 01 f350 cc lb 4x4, lift, 35's, KN filter, gauge pod, dvd player, after market radio, 4" straight exhaust with 82K on it in April of 07 for 20900. Best truck we have ever owned! Love the 7.3
I don't know about the price, I would check the NADA and KBB, and then the prices on comparable trucks in your area. As far as the 7.3, you will be satisfied with it. Just try to check the OASIS, as you are doing, and see if you can get any maint. records. If the truck has been taken care of, it probably has going by your description, it will give you many more miles of dependable service. These things can pull a house down if you can get traction.
