I was driving down the road and heard a "POP"...didn't think much of it until I got on the highway and noticed it was laying down on me on the passenger side. I pulled over thinking, "man, gotta change a tire", but when I got out to look at it, the tire was fine, but the front end on the passenger side was laying down low.
I drove it on home and when I went to check it out the passenger side spring bucket was broken in half. The spring is still on it, but it's bent forward and I'm sort of afraid to drive it until I fix it...the problem is I can't find a replacement.
I haven't went to a parts store yet, but I've been on the web looking for one and have yet to find one (I've found out parts are usually cheaper online). Does anyone know of a website that sells them?
If anyone know of a good place to find one (preferably cheap!) please let me know.
Have you looked at LMC or NPD? Also, I think Bronco Graveyard has them. If nothing else just try a salvage yard. I can't believe it broke like that. I would definitely not drive it until fixed. Its probably riveted to the frame, so replacing it will be just that much more fun.
Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has them. Thats where i got mine. If you can spare the cash, i'd get buckets for both sides, not just the side thats broke. When mine gave way, i replaced it but didn't have the money to replace the other side. Check it out, if it doesnt look bad then your probably good for a bit, but i figured it was better safe then sorry and replaced the otherside before it broke.
Best method i found for replacing them is to get an air compressor with an air hammer and get a chisel bit that will cut through rivets. I grinded the heads of the rivet flat a little bit, and you hit it with an air chisel and it pops right off. Then just replace with grade 8 bolts, washers, nuts. and your good to go.
Were you doing anything amazing before it broke? like running the truck off jumps or something?
No...I'm not abusive to my truck. It has 240K miles on it right now, and it's my daily driver as of now, I can't really afford to be beating the guts out of it. Besides. If I was doing this (hypothetically) wouldn't it just hit the bumpstops on the frame? I mean, if they weren't rusted and peeling, it would probably be impossible to bust one of these, no matter how big of a jump you hit.
I did a search and found a couple people talking about them on broncograveyard. The ones I found were the dual shock towers, would these fit on my truck? My bronco has the dual shocks and I thought these were different than the singles, maybe I'm wrong?
I'll try to scrounge the camera up here in a couple days and post a pic of it.

Thanks for the replies so far guy.
Matt
Yes, please get a couple of pics together and post them up!
I would like to see what happend!
PS. for anyone who bought them from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard... how much was a set?
Yes the dual shock tower ones will work as for that is what i used. Your truck is probably like mine and doesnt have dual shocks up front. The rear shock mount on the bucket lines up with the original position.
Thanks for the links guys, I guess either single or dual shock they're the same price. I didn't really know the proper name for it, I thought it was called a bucket, but maybe tower is the best word for it, lol.
Again thanks, I'll have to wait for the next paycheck though, lol.
Try checking ebay and the FTE classifieds too. If you have a salvage yard near by give them a try, and save some money while you are there. (if they have the part that is)
