Josegiron83, a picture of your truck and what you are missing would help us help you with what you need. I have the factory 2005 centre console (my armrests are attached to my seats) and the factory centre console is in between the seats (it is lower than the armrests and narrow enough that when I open the top it opens between the armrests. This is the same centre console found in all 2005 to 2007 Super Duty trucks with standard captain's chairs. Probably is the same as previous '05 but I am not sure.
Do you mean you have the middle jump seat and are missing the back part for it that flips down or the whole jump seat? Because that is not a centre console. If you have captain's chairs with armrests, then the one I have is the OEM replacement for the centre console. If you are missing the centre jump seat and your seats do not have armrests, you need either the jump seat or the '08 centre console which replaces your need for your armrests on the captain's chairs and they must be removed. The '08 console I bought is wider than the factory '05 to '07 console and higher.
subysouth, I will have to remove my armrests on my captain's chairs in order to install the new '08 console I bought. I have Fia OE seat covers on my truck, so they will cover the hole left by removing the armrests. As for the metal stops on the side of the seats - those will be removed by "side grinder" or "die grinder" if I can't figure out another way to remove them (since I will never be removing the '08 console once installed I have no future need for them). Or, if I find they are not too noticeable when covered by the seat covers, I will probably just put a piece of thin foam over them so it won't rip the seat cover and leave the metal stops in place. I'll let you know what I decide to do.
Yea WWW, the consoles that come in the 1999 to 2007 SDs are largely the same. The earlier models came with just a tray at the front of the console, the later ones came with 2 cupholders at the front. These consoles came in the SDs with captains chairs with armrests and like you said the lid is narrow enough to open between the armrests.
Here's a pic of the earlier version(my console out of my 2000):
Here's a pic of the later version(out of a 2007 and on Ebay):
In my case, I am replacing the console with the jump seat but the problem(having enough room for the jump seatback or 08 console cover to raise) with installing the 08 console and the jump seat in the captains chair equipped SDs is basically the same. The armrests and armrest stops have got to come out and something has to be done to cover the holes left. Here's a pic of what you will see when you remove the armrest from the captains chair. The top part is the stop pin and its about 3/4" in diameter and basically solid steel.
I am fully versed in the use of a grinder, but is this the only solution(it isnt threaded in is it?) and given the limited work area, have others taken the seat cover off to prevent damage to it while grinding or just be careful?
Also WWW are you saying you have another set of new seat covers to re-cover your seats with and thereby eliminate the holes altogether? If so and if I might ask, how much were they and what does Fia mean?
I cant say if the 2008 console cover will hit the stops or not, but if youre moving to a jump seat they definitely have to go. The stops will hit hard portions of the jump seat top so foaming and covering is a no go.
subysouth, the FIA OE set covers are an aftermarket brand of seat covers. I got sick of the light tan interior staining from even water being spilled on it and wanted a solution that would cover the existing seat covers and still look OEM but be more durable and easy to clean (I use my truck for hunting and sometimes they get a bit stained). Here's a link to the covers I bought http://www.gofia.com/index.cfm?pageI...ies=4&code=1_3 It was about $350 to cover my front and rear crew cab seats completely. The front seat covers were only about $160, the rear cover was more expensive - about $190.
I really like them and they will completely cover the stop on the armrests if they don't interfere with opening the '08 console lid. Otherwise, I am completely removing my seats and covering them with my welding jacket while I grind that pin down to level.
If I was grinding that on my seat I would get a piece of sheet metal about 1ft x 1ft and drill a hole in the center slightly bigger than the stud, slide over stud and grind. If you slip you will only hit the sheet metal. You could also hit the hole you drilled with a ball peinned hammer to make it recess into the hole a little. This will also help from catching the material or foam on fire.
Jose, here's some pics of the centre console. (I haven't removed it yet for the '08 console) I have seat covers on my seats, but have the tan interior in my XLT.
For jose and WWW(and I shoulda posted this before,) the distance between the armrest pins once the armrests are removed on my 2000 SD Crew is 14.75"(375mm.)

I bought an 04 Harley F250 a few months ago that was a theft recovery out of Texas. The seats and center console were missing. I bought 4 captains chairs from a salvage yard and 2 08 center consoles. Front seats and console went in without a hitch. I used manual seat sliders and mounts for the rear (kids with car seats...need access to the hooks on the back wall). Only thing I had to mod was the front and rear mounts for the rear console. Took about 2 hours and 10 dollars in metal. Looks nice and kind of sporty. The hardest thing about this mod was finding a small Harley emblem for the seats. I ended up using a stainless Harley ceiling fan pull, cutting it in half and mounting it on the seats. I'm away from home right now so I dont have any pictures.....give me a couple days and I'l post some pictures. You all tell me what you think
I have an 06 F350 CC with the captains chairs and center console with the cupholders.
I've been looking around to replace it with one that will go all the way to the dashboard (even though it may block that little glovebox) because the stock console has no little bins on top to throw stuff of put stuff while I'm driving.
I've had no luck finding anyone that makes one.
In looking at the Dodge Megacabs, they have a console that looks like it would be a good replacement. Anyone ever put a Dodge console in a Ford? I've only looked at pictures, but it looks like it could fit ok.
