Cowl vent handle?

I want to remove the stock vent handle because it protrudes out though where my lower dash extension is. I know there is an electric motor version which will eliminate it but I think I remember that someone on here said it was not a good seal (is that correct?) I really would prefer to modify the handle to keep it manual, has anyone done this, any ideas? Thanks

Haven't heard of any problems sealing ...as long as the outside gasket is good...but the adustment of the door outside fitment can be a bit tedious..
I also left mine...kinda fits the truck if you know what I mean..
May be just add too the existing handle?..My .02$
Longer handle Will add leverage..but will increase throw.......

My electric doesn't have a sealing problem. If the gasket is good and it closes completely it can't help but seal, like putting a lid on a jar.

The PO cut out the dash on mine for a CD player. He had to eliminate the bracket and all for the cowl vent. I used the original arm and mechanism, but fabricated another bracket so I could relocate the arm further from the cowl vent. It worked fine. I rarely open the vent and the arm just didn't look good under the dash so I removed it again. I use a rod now similar to a hood prop which I simply pull out of the arm. When it's hot, I just push the rod back in and it holds the vent at a not quite full open but enought to get plenty of air coming in. You do have to crawl under the dash to install, but it's out of sight and still works. Just an idea.
