I'm a NEWBIE!!
Anyway - in my depression I picked up a Thrifty Nickel and found an add for a restored 1966 step side. Well, I'm around some pretty big car junkies that restore vehicles on an ISCA level so I thought..."Yeah, right...restored". I called the guy and went to see the truck. WOW. Original 352 numbers matching engine and three speed tranny. Dog dish hubs. WOODEN bed. All was in 100% original condition. Well - the floor pans had been fixed. Only problem is the clear on the two stage paint was flaking FAST from sitting outside.
I got it for $3500! I don't have pics of it yet but I'll have them posted in a day or so. You simply won't believe the shape of this truck...NOW, I originally bought it thinking that if nothing else I could turn it around and make some quick cash on it but now I'm thinking of lowering it about 3 inches, two toning the paint (since I have to fix the old paint anyway), sticking some nice wheels and tires on it and putting in either an automatic or 4 speed on the floor. I'll be posting in the regular forums for ideas, tech advice and suggestions. Who knows I may just keep her!! The two tone will most likely match the '68 Mustang I'm currently restomoding.
Sounds like a bad day turned into a great one, congrats on a great score!
More congrats on your '68 Mustang, yet another sweet ride.
