Replaced my I.A.C. valve today, tried cleaning it but didn't do any good so i replaced it, now she is purring like a kitten . My question is, the old one ( which i am assuming ) was the one that came on the truck new, had a spring inside of it, and the new one doesn't is that ok ?? I noticed in the techical issues at the beginning of this forum someone asked the same thing but no one replied to it. Any oppinion's ?? The new part came from Auto Zone and cost me $43.00, in case anyone want's to know
My old had spring inside, but newer have no spring.
When my old IAC started dieing, I extracted spring a bit, but a year later engine began stalling at idle againe when cold and nothing reanimated IAC. I replaced it with used from '01 Ford Scorpio 2.9. Still works fine.. No spring inside (i took it apart to clean inside....)
It was idling high, and missing out when i first started it up, but only for a short time, I took it out and cleaned it along with the M.A.F. sensor, and after reinstalling it, it would not idle unless i had my foot on the gas. So i went and bought the new one, which has cured the problem. Also i filled up my truck yesterday an saw that i was only getting 16 MPG. where i usually average around 20, hope it takes care of that as well.
