When I refered to interior , I mean the fabric. Vinyl, cloth, stiched cloth, vinyl and cloth combo. Were the door panels just plastic or did they have a vinyl insert near the top of the panel. Was the header panel just coloured cardboard or covered in vinyl. I know we are asking alot of specific questions , but something like saying it had a cloth and vinyl 2 couloured seat would make this easy, that would have made it a Lariat. Just trying to trigger you're memory abit.
guessing 'custom', or base trim...did it have carpeting or rubber mat? rangers were upgraded to carpeting....your mirrors were almost certainly those seen in post 11, and they are by far the most common....hey, i'm looking for the original (missing) mirrors for my 74; they're similar to those on mi1lion's post, which are the trailer type used on the later models....but different- they mount higher up on the door
...it is the Delux Tu-Tone paint job. Also, I believe the seats where stiched cloth...like the picture on the same website. I don't think it had carpet on the floor. The mirrors are like the ones in post 11. I'm not sure how to answer your questions on the doors and header panel...I just remember it being green metal and a dark wood like trim. I am 99% sure it was not a Lariat. And my dad says that it was an "XLT." He never mentioned anything about a "Ranger" that is why I'm confused.
Does anybody know this...do dealers keep track of all the vehicles that come in and out of there? I know my dad traded it in in a small town in ND back in 1992.
Ok...so I checked out the rest of the pictures on that website and I'm guessing that it was the Ranger XLT. Like I said...I was just confused by the "Ranger" part. You know what...all this could have been settled if my dad never would have traded the darn thing in!!! If only I was older at the time (I was only 12)...I maybe could have talked him out of it. Who knew I'd grow up wanted that Ford!
Any more input is still appreciated. Thanks for all your help.
If you look at my 77 Ranger XLT S/C, you will notice some similarities but because of all the trim changes for 79 from previous years it will appear different.
right, after the base level Custom, the Ranger model name carried through- Ranger by itself is simply Ranger; an XLT is a Ranger XLT, and a Lariat is a Ranger XLT Lariat....trucks were badged to distinguish the difference...Explorer could be added to either the Custom or Ranger package
I'm sure. A Lariat is an upgrade from an XLT. Well at least to some it is. I'll take a set of woodgrain door panels over a set of padded Lariat panels anyday of the week.
are you sure? seems i remember lariat as extension of xlt....could be wrong, though
The Xlt and Lariat were seperate classes back then. But I think you may be thinking of the later model trucks. They started making an F150 XLT LARIAT package in , I THINK, 87 or maybe as late as 92, this was the highest level avail at the time.
