Quick question... I have an opportunity to buy an 89 F250 with a 351W. I would be buying it for the motor to put in my 4x4 which the 302 let go on. (See 5.0 died on highway). My question is was the 89 F250 Fuel injected and if so was it MAS or S/D?
I need to jump on this offer quick or lose it. Thanks
Thanks, I'm guessing that would still be a worthwhile upgrade to go from the 302 to the 351 even with S/D.
Oh for sure it would be especially in 250 still got loads of power even with the speed density system and yes it would be speed density MAF didnt come out till what 1994 for the 302 and 300 late 95 for the 351 so its speed density the truck your looking at unless it has been changed but i doubt it has
Well I took a look at this truck today. The engine is running rough, most likely due to the many vacuum leaks I saw. The truck has the E40D tranny in it. It supposedly was rebuilt, but so was the engine which doesn't look like it. If I were to get this truck, I'm sure I'd need to rebuild the 351W in it. When the time comes to put it in my 93 4x4, would I be better off leaving in my AOD with the 351 or swapping the E40D over as well. I've read here that the E40D is computer controlled and the AOD is not, so if I use the ECM from the truck wtih the 351 I'm thinking I should use the E40D as well. Please help me out with this dilemma. Is teh E40D a stronger tranny over the AOD or should I keep the AOD in my 4x4. Remember I'll be running 35" tires and have 3.55 gears at the moment, which Conanski has convinced me I should change eventually. Just need some solid pointers.
The guy wants $700 for the truck, but I'd probably offer him $350-500.
Any thoughts, anyone? I'm thinking that 350 is a good deal if he'll take it, just for the motor even to rebuild it, since I know my 5.0 will be expensive to rebuild with a broken crank and probably needing valves and pistons.

It would certainly be a cheap donor truck for the engine swap..if you have any use for the extra aprts

I just talked to the guy as I was checking this update and the lowest he'll go is $550. I still think it's well worth it so I'm going to get it.
If anyone can give me a heads up on which is the better tranny to use, my AOD or the E40D from this other truck, I'd appreciate it. I don't know how hard it is to swap the transfer case to the other tranny.
Well, I got the truck home. It has vacuum leaks like crazy so it ran rough.
I looked under it well, and after driving it, I realized it has a C6 transmission and not the E40D. I guess this means I'll have to use the AOD from mine. That will make it easier in the long run I think.
So, to ask another question: Will he ECM for the 351 work fine with the AOD transmission since it is not computer controlled?
