Maybe someone can shed some light on what happened to me, well not me to my 06 SC 5.4 F150. I go thru the intersection carefully not wanting to catch the yellow and BAM it turns yellow as I approach. I go to punch the gas and NOTHING!!! I'm speechless......nothing happened till I let off the pedal and go again slowly, which felt like eternity? What if this this was another situation where I needed to get out of the way quick? Any suggestions as to what I need to do please advise!
Have you tried this again- not going through a light, but going the same speed and put it to the floor? Could be lots of things, but I would try to simulate it again and see if it still happens. Then adjust your speed +/- 5 mphs and see what happens. There are certain speeds where downshifts will not occur, but if you put the pedal to the medal, you should accelerate. Can you post more info, speed, axle ratio, etc..?
I was going about 35-40 mph. The gear ratio is 3.73. I'll try to see if it does it again. Boy was I floored by the thought of "WHAT IF"? I'll get back with the results after I go out and try the throttle experiment. Just to mention that I use this truck very little around 10k on the odometer.
I'll bet it was searching for a gear. Mine's done it a few times. Somebody in another topic was saying the dealer can reflash the PCM and it will fix it, or at least help a little. I'm going to talk to them next week. If they do it, and it helps, I'll post about it.
Hey guys, there are many threads here on the 5.4 bogging on acceleration. Pretty much if you don't get it tuned out, it will be there. I have an Edge tuner, and it went away, but it was very annoying while I had it. Some have said the the stealerships can tune out the bog issue.
If you're still under warranty, have the dealer flash the PCM to the latest version, and see if you notice any improvement. If it's still not good enough for you, you're left with buying a tuner like the others have mentioned.
Thanks for all the input. I'll try the dealership reflash for starters. I tried to make it hesitate again but couldn't get it to do it? Just makes you wonder.
