Dipstick in 460 question

I am buying a what I beleive to be an older rebuilt 460 from a car. The question I have is mainly about the dipstick location. The truck I currently have has a dipstick screwed into the side of the oil pan. The motor I'm buying has a dipstick coming out of the front cover. My question is: Since i must use my truck oil pan and oil pump/pickup assembly, will I still be able to use the front cover location of the dipstick or will it hit the new truck pan? I actually like the idea of the front cover location better.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Well. . .even if it didn't hit the bottom of the truck oil pan, it would never read the oil as it would be sitting at the rear of the pan and not the front

You will need to use the truck oil pan and dipstick. You can use eighter timing chain cover.

I swapped a 78-79 460 into an 80's 4x4 and had to change oil pan and pickup to rear sump. The new oil pan had provisions for the dipstick in the pan but I chose not to use it. The dipstick does hit bottom of the pan and slides but after I put oil in it it showed on the timing dipstick so I just notched it at the new "full" mark. I didn't want an extra dipstick and I didn't have another timing cover.
