Honestly, Mike... I'm partial to Huskys. I'm a proud owner of a 372xp. The best saws come from Sweden! (Among other things)
Husky's aren't bad, and I am sure you are familiar with PA Power...We worked on the best, and Husky's!
A Husky will hold up for the first two years, but then starts to loose compression....Why?...They only have one ring. Does this make a difference?...Yes!. Consider a chainsaw like a high performance engine...They crank about 12,500-17,000 rpms!...How many racing motors do that?
Here we go, chainsaw battle! Bring it on. I own a Stihl AV028. Great saw. I won't buy another until this one is buried. Truck or Saw, which one will last longer?

The 028 will outlast that 372!...We have some old dudes that won't give the things up. Unfortunately, I had to make them work after all the abuse.

In all fairness, I have already had to rebuild the saw. I bought it used from Sunset Wire Rope (first mistake), then used it to carve up a fallen oak tree. The rod bearing siezed on me when I was just cutting a small log after only 3 minutes, and without warning. After a quick search on ebay, I found a whole crankcase somewhere in Oregon and had it shipped to my door for about $70, then rebuilt. I can't remember if my piston has one ring or two, I seem to remember two, but that was a couple months ago. I do have to say however, that thing rips like no other saw I've run!
As to the siezed bearing, I think that the motor might have gotten a sip of unmixed fuel someplace - that's the only thing that I can think of.
i personally injoy my old home lite... and im not talking about a home lite XL... im talking about a home lite 410... thing was used by some guy in darrington for falling old growth... and dad bought it... im slowly stealing it...
You couldn't pry my dad away from his Poulan. That's about all he's ever owned.....He's got a 16" Poulan right now, and I've seen him tear through some big-a$$ oak and maple with it.
Proof that the operator behind the machine DOES have at least SOMETHING to do with the job......
I guess what-with 69 years of experience and all.....
