My Dad has an 05 F-350 with a 6.0 PowersStroke. All of a sudden, it won't start when the engine is warm. It starts fine first thing in the morning no matter how cold it is. Once I shut the engine off after I drive somewhere, it won't start up again untill it is completely cooled down. I'm talkin about a good 3 hrs of cool down! I replaced all of the filters and still have no luck. Ford says they have never heard of this before. They have heard of cold starting issues, but not warm starting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I have read threads on here that attribute those symptoms to a fitting on the HPOP. Evidently it was a fairly common problem on 05's and possibly 06's. I am sure someone who knows what he's talking about will chime in soon.
Definitely sounds like the service to connect (STC) fitting on the high pressure oil pump (HPOP). It develops an internal leak and won't allow the oil pressure to build to the required 500 psi so the injectors will start firing. It typically causes a no start when the engine is warm. It's a pretty common problem with the 6.0 and there's already a fix for it. If the dealer's service dept hasn't heard of this problem then I'd find another service dept if that's an option. If not, tell them to look up Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 06-17-6.

Thanks for the help. We dropped the truck off yesterday, and I printed the Tech Bulletin. I will give it to them if they can't find the problem. I'll let you know how we made out. Thanks again!
I have a 99 7.3 that did that to me. It ended up being an 11.00 relay and that solved the problem. It wouldnt start warm but would cold just like yours. After 3+ hours of cool down time it would fire right up. Wish I remember which one it was but it was a relay. Your problem sounds more in depth then mine. just my .02
