Fuel capacity?

Anyone know how many gallons the front tank on a 86 f150 will hold? how bout the rear

Both should be about 19 gallon tanks.

thanks i must have a problem with my sending unit cause my front tank goes from e to 1/2 on 3 gallons. i havnt even tried using my rear tank yet im scared it wont work and wont switch back to the front any ideas?

either 16 or 19, there were both options. If the front tank is like 59" long or thereabouts it is the 19 gallon tank.

The front tanks in both my trucks are the exact same size, and I know my '89 can hold at least 18 1/2 gallons... I just filled it up the day before yesterday, and that's what it took. I must've been running that thing on fumes to get it to the station!

Some of the short wheelbase trucks had a 16 gallon tank. Most are 19 gallon though. And the sending units are notorious for going bad on these trucks.

well i guess maybe ill try my rear tank and see if it even works and then ill try an tackle the sender i had seen a post on repairing them so maybe i can try that. it would be nice to have a acurate reading thanks for your input!
