Carb
I bought a 83 100 with a 300 that has a carb that needs to be replaced. He had a rebuilt carb from tomco that came with the truck. After looking at them next to each other the tomco is missing the Y piece in the front and a vacum port . What is this? and would this carb fit? The #'s are 7529s(ford), 417506-3(tomco) that are on the plate. The truck gets 18mpg highway but it stalls when you come to a stop, until she warms up, then races above idle when warm, Also This truck sat in a barn for two yrs and has 114110 miles on the odo when I picked it up.
Thank You for any insight on this.

Looking at picture above, is it the metal piece that is attached to the throttle shaft and has a notch cut into the top of it? A rod sits inside the notch. That is a vent for the float bowl. The port that has the red hose attached to it would run down to the charcoal canister on the frame rail.
If you live in a state that has emission testing you would have to use a carb type that was orginally on the truck. Unless your vehicle is exempt. Then it wouldn't matter and use the carb.
It sounds like your anti stall Dashpot is out of adjustment or missing. Should be a little round spring actuated, device that pushes up on the throttle just enough to keep the engine from stalling when going from cruise to idle.
