I was walking through the yard again today and came accross this stepside. I tried to convince the owner of the yard to sell it to me (even though it would have a salvage certificate), and after about an hour he stood firm on the price. $500-600
Basically scrap steel prices. I thought that was kinda steep and was willing to offer about $200-300 for it and he laughed at me.
This really sucks. He probably only gave the poor schmuck about $100 for it, and now wants so much more for it.
It needs everything, but I have tons of parts left over from my F250 resto. It's got the 300 I6 and 9" rear. I thought it would make a cool daily driver painted flat black with some decent wheels for cheap.
Looks a little rough for that price, but if it runs, maybe. I know where a '90 Bronco, 302, automatic, nice interior is for 500 bucks. Starts right up too. The salvage title makes that stepside worth even less too.
Yeah, the whole truck needs a ton of work, but like I said I have a bunch of sheet metal for it already and can get anything that I need for the whole interior. The driveline and frame look real solid though. I don't care much about the salvage title. I'm not looking to resell it.
I really like the looks of 80/86 step side trucks, and I can envision something like this lowered about 4", flat black epoxy primer, some factory bullet hole wheels powder coated red and a red interior.
I really don't care if it runs either. I6 engines are a dime a dozen around here (well: actually 65 bucks), trannys are cheap and I can make it run.
I wanted to do up something that matches my 78 Shovel Head Bomber bike:
