does anybody know about a place where i can find info about ford ho engines. i am concidering putting one into my 1934 ford. i need info like physical zize, pictures, hp, etc
You know, you could waltz down to a local Fraud(oops, sorry, I meant to say Ford) dealer and grab a $5 copy of their motorsport catalog, which has the dimensions of everything they built, and a good idea of what is available in the aftermarket(it is just alot more expensive in the motorsport catalog, I wish I could figure out a way to build a stock motor with a couple of doo-dads and charge that much....).
I think if I was going to put together something for a '34, I would look to a 320h.p. longblock 302 from Central Coast Mustang. There are tons of street rod and high performance(supercharger?) parts to fit those engines, and the Central coast engines are brand new, not rebuilt, and with my friends(3) that have some of their engines, they are reliable and made great power. With that light of a vehicle(unless you are towing heavy weight) that engine should be all you need. And if you want more power, those engines hold up to supercharging or any other mods really well.
If the 302 is not enough for you, the have higher power versions of those engines, from 340 hp, to 331(the 331's have less oil control problems) and 347(more power, but they use a little more oil) stroker 302's.
thanks for the tips. the reason why i am concidering the ho motor is that i can get a fresh used one at an reasonable price. if i wanted to use an longblok like you sugested the price with the import taxes and other taxes in norway woult be outrageus. also i might have problems getting the katalouge mentioned. my local ford dealer only carrys european ford . i need a place on the internet with the same kind of info.
Ooops. Sorry, did not know you were across the pond...
I have a couple of engine info sites saved on favorites, but I do not have access to them on this computer.I also have the info in a couple of books around home somewhere....
