Can removable bench face rear?

I was wondering if anybody has tried to install the removable benches so that they face the rear of the van? I have an E-150 with seven passenger seating (2-2-3) and was hoping to increase available cargo space by turning the 3 passenger bench around to face the rear.

Interesting question. I never tried it, but had considered it on my '92 Chateau's combo bench seat/bed. Looks like it would fit backwards, but would be much closer to the 2nd row capt chair backs b/c the cleats on the floor would need to be reversed. These heavy cleats allow the bench to clip on only from the rear, so when reversed the bench would need to come in from front, ending up far forward. The 8 big fine thread bolts holding the cleats to floor look like a PITA to remove. If this worked for you, it looks like you could mod the cleats by cutting out matching holes so that you could attach the bench either way. Of course the bed couldn't be folded out w/middle seats in place. Not sure if plain bench seats attach to the floor the same way.
