i have a 96 f150 with the 5.0. i'm leaving in a few days for the lake (600 mile round trip). i just put in a new fuel pump in the front tank today due to the fact that it was gonna go any day. since the day i have owned my truck it has always started/idled rather weak after the engine is warmed up or at operating temp and i just want to make sure it will hold out on my up comming trip. i have new plugs wires and distributor cap as well as a k&n intake. newer fuel filter, new thermostat and coolant. truck runs well with little problem. just doesnt seem quite as strong when warmed up. any ideas?
Mine idles at around 600-700 rpm when warm. If yours is around there then I'd think you're good to go. Maybe run some fuel injector cleaner through it and see if that doesn't help. Seafoam if you have time will help as well.
I pick mine up at Advance Auto Parts, but several stores carry it. I put a pint through the crank and the intake every 6 months and add a pint to the fuel tank every three. It really does keep sludge, buildup and varnish out of the engine and fuel system.
sounds like what i need i'll have to pick some up. i've tried injector cleaner a few times and throttle body cleaner. hopfully it will work better than those
