Look for any info you can on recreational towing in your owners manual. On my Jeep, there is a setting on the ign. that unlocks the steering, but sends no power to Jeep. On the new '07+ Jeeps I hear you have to unhook the battery for long trips because it does not have that setting. They may have changed that because I know that alot of RV owners where not very happy when they replaced their Jeeps with newer ones.

Just turn the key to the first position, not to the ign on position. If you plan on doing a lot of towing the Focus, you might be better off getting a tow dolly.
