I had a friend of mine weld a piece of 2x2 stock about 12" long on the piece of metal under the plastic guard which attaches to the frame. I use it for small items. Pulled several cars out of snow banks with it and pushed my boat up the drive way. No winches on this one due to the posibility of flexing and not sure if it could withstand up to 9000lbs. The bar under the bumper is what I am referring to. I know the weld is good.
I got mine from JC Whitney. I beleive I paid $130 shipped for the Hidden Hitch product. I use it for a winch mount, One year, no rust, and no complaints.
got my 10k GVW front hitch from drawtite..it works great for putting trailers in very tight spots and to hold a winch..I also have a plate bracket I made that slides out for a step stool to work under the hood...
added bonus is it keeps my block heater plug dry and clean..
*Tom*, I did the same, for around $20 for the receiver. Like you said, it does flex a little, but I really only use it for carrying bicycles or a rod rack when we're going camping. I think if I keep the (tongue) weight under 200 lbs., it will be OK. A good, cheap alternative for a front hitch if you're not putting alot of weight on it.
