Looking for Winch Ideas

What the title say's. I am looking for an inexpensive winch and mounting system for my 1997 F150 4x4. I'd also need a winch mount. I have been looking and warn winches look good but are way to expensive.

Anyway thx for your help

Inexpensive and winch ussually doesn't go well together. If you have some fab skills, you can save a lot on mounts.

Warn makes a semi-hidden mounting kit for 97-03 F150's that fits in behind the factory bumper. I beleive they run about $200. 2" front receiver hitches run about $125-150, but then you have to buy or build a mount which are $60-100.

I have a Superwinch epi9 9000k winch. From my old F150 to the PSD Superduty it hasn't let me down. I paid $400 for that winch, I got a deal as a visual blem.

Thanks for the reply. Has anyone heard about how good the knock offs are at Harbour Freight?

Go to www.winchdepot.com look at the smittybilt xrc 8000, it's cheap and works good. It's also geared really low, so it's slow, however it doesn't draw much amprage. blue

actually my friend just bought the 10,000# electric winch from harbor freight for 400$. and that works flawlessly. he buried his bronco with a 6in lift and 35's to the frame. and the winch pulled him right out. i will be getting one soon, there a great bang for the buck for what ive seen.

Harbor Freight winches are pretty good for the price. I use a 10000 on my car trailer and have no problems. Mounting is key to any winch configuration. Personally I use the warn multi mount for my truck. I like being able to pull from either the front or back of the truck with ease. It sucks when you're on a tight trail and need to go backwards with the winch only on the front. Remember to set up a winching kit with your winch i.e. shackles, tree saver, chains, block/tackle, GLOVES.

I think when I decide to buy a winch I'll go with the 10k Harbor Freight winch.

Does anyone know if the warn winch mount will work for this winch? I just don't want to buy this winch and the mount. Then have them not work together. If there are other mounts available that you know fit this please mention them.

Don't buy a powerin/ powerout only winch, the only thing that makes your winch work is the amprage in your battery, why use up half of it powering out the cable? Get a free spool winch. blue
