I have a ford f100 custom and it has had the engine and trans swapped once befor. It orininally came with a 6cyl 3sp, and now it has a v8 with a 4spd OD. I need to know what size the block is and i have looked everywhere. The casting number is D8VE-6015-ASA. I cant figure it out. I also need to know if there is a certin way to pull a intake manifold off. I have removed all the bolts and it still wont come off.
Near as I can figure you have a 78 or 79 v8 out of a lincoln.
D=1970-1979
8=1978-this is a casting date. So it could also be cast in 78 and used in a 79
v=lincoln
Problem is I don't have the numbers to decode what it is. So let's go by some clues you can pick-up by looking at what you have.
6 bolts holding the valve cover on means it could be a 302, or 351w. It's too late to be a 289. I don't think they ever put a 255 in a lincoln?(hope you don't have one of these)
8 bolts holding the valve cover on. Could be a 351m or 400. It's too late to be a 351c. If it's one of these, do a search in the 351c/351m/400 forum to see if they have a good way to tell between a 351m or a 400 (stroke is the difference).
I'll post the difference in the 302 and 351w in a little bit.
