Hey guys I am probably in the wrong forum, but if I am maybe someone can redirect me. I have 71 f100 that has a 351w. I can't get this thing to run right and am pretty sure it is vacuum leaks causing my issues. Many of my hoses are dry rotted and some even appear to be disconnected. Is there a diagram with some explanation on how to replace and or reroute these lines. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jason
Vaccum diagram??? just swap in a diesel then there is no need for vaccum lines....
Seriously though I dont know of a diagram for it but I would think its pretty simple if you have power brakes there should be large line coming fromthe intake manifold to the power brake booster, there should also be a line coming from under the carb to the vaccum advance on the distributor. I am not exactly sure since its been a while since I have messed with a carbed engine but I believe that is about the only thing you really need to worry about I would just cap everything else off (if there is anything else) and start trouble shooting. I like to kee things simple when trouble shooting if you eliminate all the other not so nessecary lines then it makes it easy to get it runnin right.
i capped off everything but the booster & vac advance. if you still have a leak, check the carb base gaskets & spacer. I had a 75 once the spacer had a crack in it & it drove me nuts till i finnally found it.
something is crazy with this old truck. It ran pretty good yesterday after I tweaked around on it. Today, not so good. I am not a mechanic and have just about given up hope on trying to fix it myself.
