That sample sound on your site sounds horrible. Something like a 79 Datsun with a rotted out muffler.
I never listened to that sound sample before but you got me curious.
I completely agree. Sounds terrible. Bear River, what engine is that muffler on, and were you possibly over driving the mic or something when you were recording?
take a look at spin tech mufflers(Google for link)---theres alot of diferent sound videos on their site-----a buddy put them on a 65' stang and it sounds sweeeeeeet! these will be the next mufflers i buy (2-40 flowmaster now 3" in & out)
best part is there is no resonance---
yuall may have seen me recomend these before, but when i find a good product i let others know
The sample sound on the website actually sounds bad because of the equipment that was used to record it distorting. We have a new sound sample that was recorded with better equipment, and is being cleaned up by our web host.
The engine was a 4.0L V6. The microphone was distorting. We have posted a new sound sample with better equipment and we also added a windscreen to the microphone to further reduce distortion. The muffler is our 50 series. It really isn't very loud, the mic was about 3 feet away, directly in the path of the exhaust. The clip begins at 2,000 rpm, increases to 3,000 rpm, then increases again to 4,000. It has a good tone, (sounds like a Flowmaster) fairly deep, but this muffler really isn't that loud from inside the vehicle, which is what I wanted for long distance driving.
Aside from price, our unit has no real advantages over the original, but it does have quality advantages over the cheap asian knock-offs.
I wish Bear River had not hijacked this thread because it had potential. Please Mr. River, let this thread grow without your sales and arguments. Thanks.
I would like to see a listing of mufflers from loudest to most modest in general. We can leave out OEM replacement types because we are interested in sound here. Flowmasters are great sounding but they are too pricey for my blood. Experiences with all brands would be welcome. Sound volume and tone are what's important for this discussion.
I guess I would place the loudest sounding at the Glasspack line, perhaps a cherrry bomb extreme. Low to me is a stock muffler. (But I am looking for a replacement.)
So Bear River how are you helping this thread? You made your suggestion and told us why u think this now GTFO. This thread is a chance to help someone, not unload your crap
now what kind of set up are you looking at? dual exhaust? cats? headers or manifolds?
