I have a 1989 ford bronco with a 4.10 rear end that has decided to quit working. I( love the sound of metal in the morning) I am having problem finding a 4.10. The 3.55's are all over the place. Does anyone know where I can get one?
I did not have a chance to pull it apart, but I contacted East Coast Auto in Thaxton, VA. They did not have it but they located one for me. I dealt with Steve, and even though his business did not have any he went way beyond his job and searched until he found one for me. What a great guy. Too bad everyone you dealt with had these customer service traits. It's just being a good person.
Anyways, I got one out of Connecticut for $400.00 with 102K miles on it. Forthat price its not even worth it to me to try and figure out what is wrong.
Now this brings the total to almost $16,000 into this truck: new Jasper engine, new transmission, completely rebuilt front end, six new shocks, etc. As soon as I get it done I am going to sell it or part it out. MY wife is starting to suspect that I am waisting my money on old toys. Good excuse to get some new toys!!!!!
when mine went bad, i ended up having to get a good 8.8 w/ 3:55 and put in the 4:10 ring & pinion set. I think it cost aroung $400 for the gear set, but i don't remember for sure. but we searched everywhere for one that already had 4:10s in it, and couldn't find one. I'm selling my bronco soon, if you want, you could buy it for the rear end, and part out the rest! hahaha, good luck!
