Did the reroute today since I had quite a bit of oil laying in the bottom of the intake. Question. I ran the heater hose out the back just past the spare tire. The hose goes up and down to clear everything. Will the hose drain the oil in that configuration ?
I've had a CCV reroute for bout 4 1/2 months.. Nothing but a tiny lil spray.. The oil doesnt drain like it does on the 7.3L.. So you really dont have to worry too much about it.. Mine is all the way to my rear axle..
It should go up upwards initially out of the crankcase (this will cause most of the initial oil condensate to drain back into the crankcase) and then slope CONTINUALLY downward without any more "rise and fall" features. You really do not want to cause backpressure on the crankcase with the formation of liquid seals or "plugs". With continual drainage provided, your crankcase will operate at atmospheric pressure (only slightly higher than the minimal vacuum created by the intake flow pressure drop). You will add at least several inches of backpressure (inches of oil column which is slightly less than inches of water column) with even a slight rise and fall.
How much of a problem this causes is hard to quantify. All I know is that it is possible to run it the way I described and it is better to minimize the crankcase pressure.
