AOD without 2nd gear?

I was wondering why my AOD shifts almost directly from 1st to 3rd. I can get 2nd but only by down shifting from D back to low. Then it seems to hold fine. What gives?

Yeah, I'm on the second valve body, seems like the same problem. The tranny was just rebuilt a few hundred miles ago. I was never sure until today but the thing would shift out of first gear and then I'd hear the valve train rattle. The tranny is in a 94 F150 but the tranny & converter came out of a 1991 Crown Vic. Any idea of the RPM or MPH that should be correct?

Sounds like a problem with either the 1-2 shift accumulator or shift valve. It is common for the accumulator spring to break and another cause could be the valve body is full of crap and the accumulators and shift valves cannot operate smoothly.
