99 exp blown

I have a 99 4.6 with a dead engine, I need to replace the engine, anyone able to tell me which engines I can use, I have the windsor style motor. Is it possible to use the romeo, what years for any, what would be neccesary to go to 5.4, local garage seems dumb in this subject. I am looking for any information I can find, I will be doing this in my buddies garage, so I am looking fora decent deal on the engine.

Howdy and welcome. Not a great topic to have to deal with, especially for your first post. The '99-'02's will all work well and include the enhanced heads which meant more HP than in prior years. I'm sure you can even go into the later models as the 4.6L's and 5.4L's are basically the same engines, albeit with different strokes.

Try googling something like "rebuilt engines" or "ford 4.6l rebuilt engines," etc. and see what kind of info you can dig up on the net. Also, if you're on a very tight budget, call around to local junk yards to see if there are any expys or f150's that might have complete engines available. Ebay may be an alternative, but shipping would probably eat up any savings.

Good luck.

I guess thats my question, will a F150 engine of the same generation work OK? It just opens up my options. And will the bigger 5.4 bolt right in?
