Alright ill start with a little background info first. Im 17 and 5k to spend on a truck to restore. Today I found a 77 f150 with a 351 for 1k. The bed and cab were pretty rusty but the auto transmission and engine ran pretty good. It needs a new master cylinder and possibly new brakes. Is a truck like this something that I should jump on and get or should I wait it out. Im interested in restoring something around this age and I have freinds with alot of experience in fixing and switching cabs and stuff like that. If anyone has any suggestions, or tips for something like this please let me know!
Thanks,
Luke
Is the truck a 4x4?? 1K seems to be a bit high even if its a 4x4 if there is quite a bit of rust on the cab and bed. Body work and rust free parts can get expensive. For 5K you can get a really nice rust free truck in many places. However, if you would like the challenge of doing all the work yourself, go for it. I would try to get the truck cheaper though. Have you been looking around long for these trucks? If not, maybe wait it out a bit and keep looking. If you can find a truck with at least a rust free cab or little rust cab, you'd be more ahead of the ballgame.
For 5 k you can buy a real nice truck
you might need to travel a bit?
but aren't you in Fla ? that sounds awfully high for down there in that condition ?
look around first, try in Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc
this one does not sound like a wise buy unless you can pick it up for $200? LOL
I dont know what to tell you? but this dont sound good?
Feel free to look through my galleries, my truck happened to be free but the guy had wanted $1500 for it at one point (he owed me!). You can see the progress my father-in-law have made on less then $2,000 - not including the $500 in tires I just bought.
If you want to do the work and salvage things (which we did) then go for it - it is AWESOME! to see how one of these relics goes from ugly to handsome with some TLC, elbow grease and paint!
wow im glad i didnt get it. the only problem with going outside of the state is having to ship it in how much does that cost and does anyone know a good shipper. If I did this how would I be able to see the truck?
