I have a 2004 ford ranger with the 3.0 v-6 and almost 80,000 miles. manual tranny. My problem all started last night i was driving home and the check engine light came on. It is ideling really rough now. I got a hold of a scan tool and it was showing a code of p304 wich means it is missfiring on number 4 cly. I put a new set of autolight plantium plugs and reset the code. no change still idels rough. At freeway speed it seems to run ok. Also every now and then the check engine light starts to flash. Any help will be greatly apreciated. Thanks fellow ford fans.
put a new set of wires on today and that not make a bit of differance. dont know how to check the injection. if any one could point me in the right direction that would be great.
litte of each did all normal things to check for. than i did a compression test and the nuimber 4 cly was really low compared to the rest. then i took it to dealer. they are fixing it now cause i have an extended warnanty.
I took my truck to the Dealer today and just got a call that I have low compression in #6 and that it is a problem in my valve train. From this they say that I need a new engine because I have a 120,000 miles on the truck. They don't recommend just fixing the head.
