Cool replacing ignition.. need help

today my ignition finally got to the point where it would not turn at all with the key in it and when i tried to turn it forward the key snapped off inside of it. the ignition will NOT turn any at all, will not go to run position or anything. so i know that your supposed to have it in run position to push in the pin that holds it in so you can replace it. i also know that you can drill the ignition out where the key inserts in order to get the pin to release it. are there any other ways of getting the ignition out of this truck? Also, where can i get a new one? thanks guys

All I can remember reading is that there is a hole on the bottom of the column that you can stick a wire in to remove the ignition. Sounds like you are already aware of that. Probably a dealer item, but you might try something like Autozone.

Pick the brains of a good lock smith, trust me, they will know what has to be done to remove the cylinder with the least damage.

I guess it's a good lesson for all of us that when the ign starts to act up take action NOW!.

Good luck,

Rog

From: new orleans,
I have done a crap load of cyclinders and I usually take a good snap-on flat head screwdriver and gently persuade the ignition to turn on. You have quit alot of room to play with just don't drill too deep if you do drill. Then do as you said, push release pin. Autozone should have it . I don't know if they stock our trucks but I have bought alot of different ones there. Good luck
