It's a long story but FORD told my dealer when I had it in that there controller was NOT compatable with trailers with electric brakes. never heard of anything so stupid. It's going back in tommorow because I am now getting a fault saying "fault in trailer wiring " after a hour of driving with no trailer hook up when I step on the brake or turn on the right turn signal. I did have a in bed connector put in with my GN hitch so I am hoping that may be the problem. My tech told me they have had some problems with the new FORD controller.
I've ran into ford trucks throwing that fault and everytime it has been the the trailer or the socket or plug. I'd check all the connections and then maybe look at the splice for the bed socket
Just so everyone knows Fords integrated controller works well with most electric over hydraulic braking systems Especially Dexter brand. whereas Chevrolet doesn't and especially doesn't work with Dexter.
If you are talking about electric/hydraulic system then yes the controller will have issues. The problem with this set up is there is not a magnet for the controller to recognize. You will get a trailer disconnected periodically and the brakes will not work.
I had this issue with my new boat trailer. Brake actuator manufacturer advised to splice in a 3000 lb magnet in the line. Now my hydraulic/electric system works great.
Well it's fixed ! It was the wiring on the inbed connector. This connector was installed 4 weeks ago at RENTZ in Hudson FL. Won't be using these people again !!!!!
Darn, you beat me to it. When you're blowing fuses, the 7-wire connector should always be your first suspicion. I answer these questions all day long and it always seems to come back to that!
That was the first thing I thought also. I was hoping the techs at FORD would verify that for me but they went off on a tangant and were useless. The hitch place that did the work is in FLA and I am in NH so I sent them the bill can't wait to see what they say.
