Which motor is it?

Which motor is it?

I have an 2005 350 4 door 4x4, and the title says its an 05 but on the door it says it was built in 04 but everything says its an 05 and on the motor and under the hood by the radiator on the black plastic theres a sticker saying this vehicle meets all the 2005 EPA requirements and i have no wire for my gas pedal so im pretty sure it is the big 3 v or 30 v motor im not sure if its 3 or 30? but i know the 05s and up have the most horespower and im hoping thats mine is there anyway to find out for sure?????????

It probably is an '05 model 3valve motor, with a late '04 build date. 3v times 10 is 30 valves.

It sounds like you have the 3v but you can tell for certain by what tranny the truck has. If you have the Torqshift 5-speed Auto then it is the 3v. The shift selector should have a tow/haul button on the end and should have options of 1, 2, 3, or D (Drive). If I remember correctly the old 4 speed had options for 1, 2, and D with an overdrive lockout button on the end of the shift lever.

2005 model year vehicles were built from July, 2004, to June, 2005. That's the way it works almost every year.

Yep it has the tow haul mode with 1 2 3 and D.......and the sticker says it was built in 08/04.......so its deff the 3v motor??? which i think would mean its 1 intake 2 exhaust correct

Easiest way to tell.

Plastic valve covers? 2-valve.

Aluminum valve covers? 3-valve.

At least, for the V10. For the V8's, the new 4.6L 3-valve is aluminum valve covers I believe, and all the 4-valvers too?

Yup, ur right about the 1, 2, D for the 4R100

I'm pretty sure its the 2005 due to the manufacturer date, the tranny is 1 2 3 d with tow haul mode on shifter and on the motor it has a sticker saying meets all 2005 epa requirements

Well it does have the metal valve covers....its deff the 3v every thing that would indicate it has checked out especially when u push the gas pedal!! i dont know if the valve cover thing is true about the old ones having plastic but mine deff has metal

I haven't heard of anyone making aftermarket aluminum (or chrome) valve covers for the 2-valve V10

In the future, who knows, maybe they'll go plastic on the 3-valve...
