Are you talking about the whole grille assembly?
if so yes, just swap out all of it
I don't know if you could just swap out the headlight buckets and surrounds? but I do not think so
Yes if you swap out the whole thing. Get it all including the bucket behind the grille that is bolted to the radiator support. You will have to drill a few hole in your support to mount them because the '78-'79 headlights set higher. It is an easy swap I did it on my '77 that for some reason came with the '78 grille. You have to loosen the inner fender wells and you may or may not have to remove the front bumper, I had to remove mine but a buddy of mine that I gave my old grille didn't have to remove his to get it on.
I just perfomed this on my 74 truck. It was as easy as pie. I also changed the bumper so obviously the bumper had to be removed.
Only two holes have to be drilled into the radiator support. Your older round headlight bucket doe not bolt up quite the same, and the square units have two additional holes in the lower portion per light. Here are a few picks, you can see where the holes have to be changed.
You will also need the bulb socket, and as much of the wiring as you can get. The factory harness falls a little short to reach the new turn signal / parking lamp location.
Other than that, a real easy swap.
are your 74 parts in ok condition? my 74 has had a 76-77 grille swapped in, and i want to go back to the 73-75
You talkin to me?
I just updated my photobucket http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=HPIM0824.jpg
I took a pic of the old grille so you can see the condition. It is faded, and will not shine well unless the anodized finish is removed, and the aluminum is polished. I have the headlights, buckets, turn signals, bulbs, and grille inserts.
You will notice two small dents at the bottom of the grille on both ends. This was from a little contact with the bumper and some large rocks, but is pretty well concealed by the bumper. Inserts are in good shape and not too brittle. Never been painted either. Everything is all original.
Pm me if you have any questions or might be able to use it for your project. I will probably never go back to this grille, besides, I have two other complete ones.
I reside in So Ca, so shipping might be a little bit of an issue, but this stuff is light.
well, also just a little unwieldy for shipping...not looking for a necessarily perfect shell anyway, as truck is a driver, so that should be fine....definitely looking for the inserts....will not need buckets, signals, etc, since those are original and fine on mine...so, whatever you can shoot me to 61529 on shell and inserts....do you still have the bumper?

Yes, I do have a bumper, but it has a square hole cut in it behind the license plate, and if you recall the big rock incident, it has quite a bit of rock rash on the outside edges. I get into rather large rocks. Many of them large enough to have hit the light bar that was mounted on top of the front bumper.
Yes, I have the bumper, but it is not a show quality piece at all.
I will PM you with contact info, and we can work something out on shipping and such.
