I currently have a 2002 Excursion Limited, 7.3 PSD. My mods are: Banks Intercooler, Banks big head wastegate, compressor wheel, power elbow, monster exhaust, torque converter (this is all Banks), transcommand, Big Hoss chip (set @ the highes level, 120 hp shot), mated with a six gun tuner. I dynoed last year. It read 396 RWHP, 915 RW torque. I am looking to ditch the Banks chip and tuner, going with a tuner or downloader. Also, I am interested in fuel lift pump, high pressure oil pump, injectors, bigger turbo. Any suggestions??, I am ready to take this to a whole 'nother level.
You better quit while you're ahead. 396/915 sounds a bit optimistic to me but if it is true, you have not left much on the table for PMRs to withstand.
What is PMR's??, I am very nervous getting on it with the stock tranny. Yeah, that is my next build! When I get on it, it feels like it will be my last.
Call Jody at DP-Tuner, Call bob at dieselsite and get a pulse HPOP, also ask Bob about his CPR fuel system, call Brian at BTS and get a tranny (suprised you havent needed one yet). Call Swamps, or Beans and get a set of stage two single shot injectors and a GTP38R ball bearing turbo and your good to go.
total spent (including tranny) ~ $10500.00 + or- and your good for 500HP but you dont have the forged rods to hold it all together.
Powdered Metal Rods. Let me look for a link to the pics. They suck as they are not as strong as the forged units in the 01 and earlier units. Even those suck when you boost HP. PMRs are said to live for about 400 and forged to 500 but there are many cases of failure way before that. The bottom end of the PSD just sucks when you pump up the volume.
Wow that is amazing that much power and 30 + MPG, I have some friend that run a few offroad / diesel mags with a truck like that I am sure they would want to do a full test on the truck ....

I would highly recommend the 7.3 PSD, prefferably 2002, 2003 (those last two years are the cats meow). I currently own a 2002 Excursion Limited, 7.3 PSD and love it. From the factory the 7.3 comes 65% of it's potential, so added mods are endless. Wheras the 6.0 PSD comes from factory 95% of it's potential. So, adding mods are very limited without going to the extreme. I have a 2003 F350 6.0 PSD and have all kinds of problems. We chipped it and it was in the shop every 10,000 miles, blown head gastket, two turbos, fuel thickem (not sure if the spelling is right). BUT, after removing chip and running it back to stock I have had 70,000 miles of no problems. I have 169,000 miles on it, drive 200+ miles a day (business), pull 15,000 pound trailers daily and I can't complain. The transmission is pheonominal. No problems there. I love the shift points. But, getting back to your excursion purchase, I would get the 7.3 PSD, build the crap out of it, and transmission and enjoy 33.8 miles the gallon. I currently get 33.8 miles to the gallon @ 55 mph, 32.8 @ 60 mph, and 31.8 @ 65 mph. I have alot of mods. Write back and I'll go on about what we did.
Just might be the Bank's stickers helping increase all the HP. You are extremely lucky your tranny hasn't gone yet. BTS is the best way as well as John Wood.
I don't see how you got those numbers on stock split shot injectors and a stock HPOP? Maybee I'm stupid but I don't see it happening with any Banks stuff. Two things for sure, with those numbers your tranny is on borrowed time and they dyno was wrong IMO. Maybe 296 but not 396.
Again, I said those #s were very optimistic. As a matter of fact, those #s are impossible on a stock turbo and injectors as it cannot make it. Perhaps there is something we do not know?
I would venture to say he is reading his lieometer for those 30 mpg figures and they are not hand calculated. Heck I only have a 6637 and superchip, but on the way home the other night on a 400 mile trip I reset the lieometer and ran home at 70 mph and the thing read 28.6. I havent filled up yet so I dont know the actual mileage, but it is at half a tank still, so I am guessing maybe 22.

Mine says the same thing..... 27+ mpg on the Lie-O-meter, reality is 17-18 for me. If you get 22 your :
I'm stacked with the Edge stuff, tuned all the way up. Exhaust, Filter, and a slipping tranny, I was 298HP/610LBS. Mcallister may have just used a calculator and added up the numbers from the boxes.
