Hey guys, how does a budget long rod 351W sound. The other night I was trying to sleep and came up with the idea of a long rod 351W for cheap. Here's what I came up with...400M rods(6.58"x2.31"wide)+ 383chev. pistons W/6" rod(1.13" C.H.) It works out almost perfect. 6.58"+1.75"(stroke radius)+1.13"=9.46 deck height which is almost perfect on a old 351W block w/9.48" deck height. The rod/stroke ratio goes from 1.7 to 1.88 with the longer rods, not to mention how much lighter rotating assembly it'll have. Compression will be 10.9w/58cc, 10.4w/62cc, 10.2w/64cc heads,(with flat top pistons) :-X12

Try Keith Black #355 pistons for a 327 SBF stroker. They give a final compression height of 9.50" (perfect for the late 351w block) with the 351M/400 rod bushed for a .927" pin bore and can be decked .020" for use in the early 351W block.
