I have a 1995 F-150 EXT 4X4 with a 5.0L 302 in it. The engine is stock in it right now. I would like to upgrade the cam and heads on it. Does anyone have any advice on a good set of heads and aftermarket cam to replace the factory ones.
he'll tell you this comp cam 35-255-5, or Crane 444232. and full length headrs... flow tech puts out some cheap ones for our cars.... i bought some for my 351w =, and they look cool as S***
Close.. the '95 5.0 has a decent roller cam in it already so I'd suggest you either add 1.7 rockers or swap in the comp 35-510-8 and keep the stock rockers. Upgrade the heads can be expensive though, because of all the other things you need to upgrade to feed them. If you just add 1.7 rockers to the stock cam then GT40 heads are a nice upgrade that won't completely max out the stock fuel system. If you upgrade the cam however, you'll need bigger injectors, possibly a pump, and some way to tune the computer to make it all cooperate. I'm assuming a complete hi-fow exhaust system behind all this btw, if you haven't already longtubes are the better way to go with a truck.
would you give the same advice to someone with a 96 5.0? they're probably the same just figured i'd make sure
Both motors are the same internally so this applies to both years, the only difference will be the '96 will have an OBD2 EFI system and the '95 will be OBD1, both should also be mass air so they will adapt to the changes well. The OBD2 truck can also take advantage of one of the many aftermarket tuner systems on the market that just plugs into the test port, while the older vehicle requires a more complicated tuner system that attaches directly to the EEC and runs from a laptop.

Nothing like a set of hooker long tubes to glasspacks right under the cab. Or just run complete straights off the long tubes to 3-4 inch tips, no blow master will ever bark as loud or sound as nice. (hates flowmaster products and the sound of all chambered mufflers)
I am looking for a distributor that will work with remotely located ICM. Everything that I have found has icm on distributor or a different electrical connection on the pickup coil.
