Started the Teardown

Wife was home sick yesterday so I took a half day to make take care of her, and after she fell asleep I went to the garage. I started removing all the body parts in the bed and began teardown of the cab to get it ready to come off.
I added and new album with all the parts I have and progress. I cab is now stripped and ready to come off the frame as well as the bed.

I will not be doing a complete Resto to factory.... ( sorry )
We have decided to add "our" (hers) j/k own touches to the truck. It will look stock sorta but will have some upgrades. (engine, trans, suspension,) stuff like that.

I am headed for wardrobe and then out to start grinding some bolts that were not nice to my impact yesterday and start on grinding and sanding down the back half of the frame.

Will post updated pics hopefully tonite

Looks like you got a lot done, keep taking those pics. That roof will be a challenge. I see you have a replacement roof.

Congrats! But the teardown is the easy part and it always goes fast. Putting it all back together is what's so time consuming.

Just be sure to bag stuff as it comes off and label the bags. Years from now is not when you want to be saying "what did that look like?" and "where did I put that?"

Take a lot of pictures to help in the reassembly.

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of your self. Will you be doing the work your self or someone else? I like how you took plenty of pics. Thats always nice to have to look back at what you have done.

Hope the wife is feeling better!

Congrads on the progress. Randy gives some very good advice. Zip lock bags and a sharpy marker are very valuable tools. And you can never take enough pictures.

I agree the teardown is the fun part. I get all excited when I dive into a new project. It's when I get them nearly finished that I loose interest. I love the beginning stages. As already said, take lots of pics and label EVERYTHING!! Do yourself a favor and keep it as organized as possible!! Trust me stuff comes up and you might forget where something goes over time??? Congrats on a good day!!

Looks like a great start, I must also emphasize the need to bag, mark, take pictures, write notes, draw diagrams etc etc...... sure helps the reassembly.

James, looks like a '56 Ford truck exploded in your driveway!! I hope I can get mine disassembled that quickly. All in all looks like a pretty solid truck. while there are some bad spots, most is in pretty good shape for the shape it's in. I will be working on mine a piece at a time and keep it on the road as much as possible. Good luck with your build and have fun. Hope your wife if feeling better.
