Jet Fuel

jp-1 was almost totaly kero. jp-2~jp4 was kero with naptha... I think jp-4 was half kero, half mogas. jp-8 is basically fuel oil with a bunch of additives to raise it's flash point, and prevent coke deposits. As it's used as a lube, coolant, hydraulic, and fuel. It was designed to replace having to cart around a bunch of different fuels. jp-2(fuel#2) jp-4(jet), avgas, mogas. etc.

used to work at an FBO that used Jet A in their john deer to cut the grass on the field
Dont know if I'd want to use it in my 6.0 though.
On a side note, you'd be suprised what you can run a turbine engine on (for a little while)
Also, Jet A is running about $4.65 to over $5.00 for aviation use.

Herk engines trim to temperature, and our AFETS rep told us they'd burn quite a variety of petroleum fuels. I'm impressed with any aircraft where you can smash the tail with an F-16 and still land!

jp-8 is safe to run in your diesels. most guys i new would only fill there tanks half way then come into work and barrow our fuel sample waste containers and fill the rest. one guy did use a 2 stroke oil just cuz he felt safer but i know a guy that rana cummins for 6 months off straight jp-8 and had no problems.

jp-8 has all the lube required for diesel engines. Nothing else is needed for proper performance/longetivity.
As far as fuel reqirement for a jet engine. As long as it'll burn, but not too fast, it'll power a jet engine. I've seen em run on propane.
They work very simmilar to a diesel engine as they compress air, squirt in fuel, and ignite.
