I have a couple of cousins going this summer. They asked me if I wanted to go. I told them if I was going to spend that much to go somewhere it was not going to be China and it would not be with 6 billion people.
It was a lot more 'fun' when we had the big-bad boogeyman in the form of the "USSR" to compete against!!!.......
I'm old enough (barely!) to remember the '72 Olympics......I distinctly remember, during a family camping trip, and watching on the 2-channel TV, coverage about the Israeli athletes getting kidnapped at Munich........I was 8.
But man! Playing those 'red' army bast--ds at hockey, or basketball......Awesome!!!

i agree.
my opinion is when they set their sites on taking the nationalism out of the games, it kind of got a lot less interesting.
i remember one of the winter olympic games (did they have it in 1990?) in school and we all watched the hockey games during class. it got pretty crazy and was fun.
I am so Removed by Admin, for the last time. Maybe I'll move to the back country, and hunt tourists....
